NMS Heroes: A Mission in Pakistan, Professional Service Reflects Our Original Intent

2025.07.02

Under the grand vision of the “Belt and Road” initiative, Nanchang Mineral Systems Co., Ltd. (NMS) actively participates in numerous projects across the countries along the route, contributing to the “Belt and Road” stage with exceptional technical strength and professional service. Pakistan, an important partner along the Belt and Road, has witnessed the successful implementation of many of NMS’s projects. Liu Ping, an after-sales service engineer from Jiangxi Gold Intelligent Service Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of NMS, stands out as a remarkable representative of this journey. His experience vividly demonstrates the professionalism and commitment of NMS’s after-sales service.

Going Against the Grain on the Belt and Road, Professionally Overcoming Challenges

In August 2022, Liu Ping set out for a hydropower project in Pakistan, taking on the critical responsibility of equipment installation and commissioning. At that time, the situation in the project area was complicated, and danger was ever-present.

“Bang!” At 11:30 p.m., a sharp gunshot shattered the silence. Amid the chaos, Liu Ping quickly got up at the reminder of his roommate, not even having time to put on his shoes, running barefoot with the crowd toward the safety shelter on the hill. Only after the event did he learn the full story. Hundreds of extremists had surrounded the project office, demanding that they hand over the engineers, while threatening with guns. It was Liu Ping’s first time hearing gunshots and coming so close to death, which left him shaken. Fortunately, two hours later, the local police successfully dispersed the extremists, and the crisis was averted.

However, the challenges did not stop there. At that time, the COVID-19 pandemic was raging, and Liu Ping unfortunately contracted the virus. The illness, with symptoms like fever, cough, and fatigue, took a heavy toll. Mentally, he was under double pressure — not only concerned about how the illness would affect the work schedule but also worried about causing anxiety for his family. But Liu Ping didn’t let the adversity defeat him. He self-managed his stress, overcame his fear of local medicines, and actively sought treatment. A few days later, as he gradually recovered, he was eager to return to work.

Just as the work was beginning to progress, a sudden mudslide struck, severely affecting the project’s timeline. Roads, bridges, and communication infrastructure were destroyed, blocking access to the site and halting communication. When the disaster subsided, Liu Ping and the client’s team worked together to clear and repair the roads. With their relentless efforts, they restored road access, and the installation work was able to continue.

Despite the setbacks, Liu Ping completed the entire sand and gravel system installation and commissioning for the hydropower station with exceptional determination and skill. His outstanding performance earned high praise from the client, who expressed admiration for NMS’s ability to complete the task with high quality under such challenging conditions. This recognition led the client to firmly choose NMS for continued collaboration in after-sales services.

Returning to Pakistan, Earned Praise for Dedicated Service

Fast forward to April 2025, Liu Ping, along with a technical support engineer and a sales engineer, returned to Pakistan, this time for a copper mine project. After arriving in Karachi late at night, they chose to sleep on the airport floor for safety. However, a swarm of mosquitoes made it hard to sleep. The next morning, they took a small propeller plane for hours, followed by an armored car, before finally reaching the project site.

At that time, the sun was blazing, and the temperature soared above 40°C, with scorching sand and dust sweeping across the land like waves. The metal equipment became too hot to touch. Even more worrying than the heat was the emergence of several key issues on the project. Liu Ping and his team wasted no time resting, immediately jumping into equipment inspections and engaging in cross-border “cloud collaboration” with the domestic technical team. After carefully checking the lines and fine-tuning the parameters, they successfully identified and solved the root cause of the issues. They also proposed preventive solutions to potential problems, ensuring the site’s normal production.

The client also praised NMS’s after-sales service engineers and technical engineers for their previous projects. Throughout the 4-month service period, the team arrived at the site every morning at 6:50 a.m., rain or shine, always committed to their work. They meticulously attended to every task, ensuring that each detail was addressed. The after-sales service engineers carefully documented every operational step in sequence to help the on-site staff get up to speed quickly, greatly improving work efficiency.

After resolving the current issues, Liu Ping quickly got involved in the commissioning of the client’s new production line. Thanks to the efficient performance of NMS equipment and professional services, the client once again chose a range of NMS crushing and screening equipment for the new production line. Liu Ping worked with domestic experts in real-time to discuss solutions, while also disassembling and assembling parts under the scorching heat. After several days of hard work, the equipment was successfully adapted to the new process, and the new production line began trial operations.

Once everything was set, Liu Ping prepared to return home. However, the sudden outbreak of the India-Pakistan conflict led to a complete transportation shutdown. Despite his concern for his wife and children, he knew his responsibility. He suppressed his desire to return home, staying on the job amidst anxiety and uncertainty, and continued to follow up on the client’s needs while waiting for the situation to stabilize. After being stranded for 20 days, he finally boarded the plane home.

Ten Years of Growth, Passing on Professional Service

Born in 1989, Liu Ping has spent 10 years at NMS. His two trips to Pakistan have undoubtedly become unforgettable milestones in his life. Throughout his career, he has faced countless difficult challenges. From plateaus and mountains to deserts, his footsteps have left marks of perseverance.

In 2022, to support the construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, the sand and gravel system had a tight construction schedule, with the client requiring the system to start work in January and go into production by March. After receiving the notice that equipment and personnel must be on-site the next day, Liu Ping immediately drove to the site from a client visit in Yunnan. It was winter, and some roads were covered in snow. After 11 hours of travel, he arrived on time. At an altitude of 4,200 meters, Liu Ping overcame the -20°C cold and altitude sickness to guide the installation and commissioning work, ultimately achieving the production goal within the specified timeline.

Over the past ten years, Liu Ping has been deeply involved in the installation and commissioning of several large projects and new products. These challenging tasks have served as the “whetstone” and “touchstone” of his professional ability. Faced with various equipment “difficulties,” from abnormal noises to system failures, he has always been able to quickly identify the root causes and offer efficient solutions, thanks to his sharp insights and solid technical skills. He always prioritizes the customer’s needs, earning the high recognition of clients and repeatedly winning the title of “Service Model.” “These honors are not only a recognition of my past achievements but also a source of motivation to keep moving forward,” Liu Ping says.

At the same time, Liu Ping understands the importance of teamwork and actively plays a role in mentoring new colleagues. He shares his work experience and techniques with them, from equipment operation points to client communication strategies, helping new colleagues integrate into the team and improve their business capabilities. Under his careful guidance, four new colleagues have successfully joined the team and become indispensable assets.

At NMS, there are many after-sales service engineers like Liu Ping. With their professional skills and thoughtful service, they “listen” to the equipment, solve problems for customers, and ensure smooth project operations. They overcome numerous difficulties, always charging forward on the front lines, embodying NMS’s professionalism and responsibility, and helping build the company’s excellent reputation and image. It is thanks to their unwavering efforts and commitment that NMS has achieved its current glory. Let us salute these unsung heroes!
