Good News! Two Projects of NMS Pass Technological Achievement Appraisal

Recently, the technological achievement appraisal of two projects completed by Nanchang Mineral Systems Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “NMS”) and its subsidiary Jiangxi Nankuang Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Jiangxi Nankuang”) have been publicized on the official website of China Aggregates Association (CAA), and have passed the publicity period successfully.

From October 24 to 25, 2020, CAA organized experts to appraise the technological achievement of two projects completed by NMS and its subsidiary Jiangxi Nankuang. The projects were “tester for processing properties of sand and aggregates parent rock” and “complete set of technology and application for processing sand and aggregates from hard & high adsorption rock for nuclear power concrete in water deficient areas”.

The experts inspected the test, listened to the report, reviewed the report and checked onsite, questioned and discussed relevant issues. After full demonstration, the two projects passed the technological achievement appraisal.

Tester for processing properties of sand and aggregates parent rock

  1. YCL and YMS adopt PLC system with high degree of automation, good safety and easy operation, which can realize data storage, screen display, printing and remote transmission, and the performance of tester is stable;
  2. YCL develops the pendulum impact test software, which is transmitted to the display screen through HD camera, and adopts servo motor to optimize the loading process;

  3. YCL adopts a steel fully enclosed protective cover, which can effectively prevent the splashing of the broken part from hurting people and improve the safety;

  4. YMS rotating shaft and drum are changed from pulley to gearbox. The speed is precisely adjusted by frequency conversion motor. The high-precision photoelectric encoder is used as transmission and acquisition sensor.

The result showed that the project achievement filled the gap in processing properties of sand and aggregates parent rock in China – YCJ and YMS, and would provide parent rock key parameters support for the selection and optimization of sand and aggregates processing technology and equipment in China. The project had great potential for technical, economic and social benefits, and the application was promising.

The project had remarkable technological innovation, and the overall level was leading in China, and it had reached international advanced level in program control technology, security, data storage and transmission.

Complete set of technology and application for processing sand and aggregates from hard & high adsorption rock for nuclear power concrete in water deficient areas

  1.   For the features of hard rock with high adsorption, the process of “multi-stage powder removal, combination of dry and wet” is developed to realize water saving and effective control of stone powder content.
  2. The secondary and tertiary cone crushers are adopted, and the primary aggregates with different specifications of 16-31.5mm or 16-26.5mm can be produced at any time by adjusting material distribution device. Simultaneously, part or all of small stones are controlled to enter the rear vertical shaft impact crusher to achieve accurate shaping and gradation optimization.

The appraisal showed the application of project achievement in the production line of hard and high adsorptive rock aggregates for concrete in Karachi nuclear power plant had achieved favorable technical and economic benefits. The flake of stone produced was less than 5% (project requirement was less than 8%), powder content of manufactured sand was less than 3%, and the gradation met the requirements of aggregate standard for high performance concrete.

This achievement aims at using hard and high adsorption rock to processing high-quality sand and aggregates, which solves the technical problems of stone powder content control and gradation optimization, and provides an example for similar mine parent rock and harsh environmental conditions home and abroad. The achievement has reached the international advanced level. In the water shortage areas, using hard and high adsorption rock to processing high-quality sand and aggregates and the control technology for low stone powder content has reached international leading level.
