NMS Chairman Presents Scholarships to CSU Students, Advancing University–Industry Collaboration
2026.06.23
Recently, the School of Minerals Processing and Bioengineering at Central South University(CSU) held its 2025–2026 Scholarship Award Ceremony. Li Shunshan, Chairman and President of NMS, attended the event in Changsha and presented certificates of honor to 36 recipients of the NMS Scholarship. He also engaged in discussions with students on industry trends and career development.

Li Shunshan stated in his speech that since NMS established a scholarship program at Central South University in 2018, the company has witnessed profound changes in the global mining industry over the past eight years. He noted that international competition for critical mineral resources supporting strategic industries such as new energy and semiconductors is becoming increasingly intense, and that technological innovation remains the fundamental solution to these challenges. The NMS Scholarship was established to encourage more young talents to pursue research in mining technology and contribute to safeguarding national resource security and advancing industry development.

Li Shunshan also introduced the company’s development strategy to the faculty and students. He explained that, following its public listing, NMS—like many equipment manufacturers in the industry—has faced new challenges associated with globalization. In response, the company launched its “Second Entrepreneurship” initiative and defined its corporate mission as: “Develop leading technologies, manufacture premium products, strengthen efficient services, promote healthy, environmentally friendly and sustainable mining development, maximize resource value, create value for customers, and benefit society.” Based on this mission, NMS has systematically proposed the strategic vision of building a “Technology-Driven NMS, Quality-Focused NMS, Service-Oriented NMS, Global NMS, and Value-Creating NMS,” while actively advancing its “One Core, Two Wings” business framework, integrating the coordinated development of its three business segments: mining equipment, mining services, and mining investment.

In the core mining equipment business, NMS has established a complete innovation chain covering fundamental research, technology development, and equipment manufacturing. The company operates an R&D center in Sweden, maintains research bases in Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanchang, and has invested in Hunan Jumper Technology, a company specializing in optical sorting technology, further strengthening its technological foundation.Regarding the two strategic wings—mining services and mining investment—Li Shunshan acknowledged the practical challenges Chinese enterprises face when expanding overseas, including difficulties in obtaining work visas and shortages of skilled local labor. He emphasized that these challenges must be addressed through technological advancement and management innovation. To this end, NMS utilizes mining investment projects as application and validation platforms, creating a closed-loop system connecting R&D data, manufacturing data, and operational data to continuously improve equipment technologies through real-world feedback. Li Shunshan also extended an invitation to the students, saying, “NMS is an excellent platform for career development. We welcome talented young people who aspire to contribute to the mining industry to join us.”

NMS has always attached great importance to industry–university–research collaboration and talent development. Earlier this month, the company officially became a Vice Chairman Unit of the Jiangxi Equipment Manufacturing Industry Talent Development Consortium. Led by East China Jiaotong University, the consortium was jointly established by leading equipment manufacturing enterprises, universities, research institutes, and industry associations across Jiangxi Province. Its mission is to support the implementation of Jiangxi Province’s “1269 Action Plan” and promote deeper integration among industrial, educational, talent, and innovation resources. As a Vice Chairman Unit, NMS will work closely with other members to bridge the gap between education and industry, jointly advance talent cultivation, technological innovation, and commercialization of research achievements, and address the mismatch between industrial talent demand and supply.
From establishing scholarships at Central South University in Changsha to joining a provincial industry–education consortium in Jiangxi, NMS continues to demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of a modern manufacturing enterprise through practical actions. Looking ahead, NMS will continue aligning its development with China’s national resource security strategy and manufacturing-strength initiatives. By advancing industry–education integration and accelerating technological innovation, the company will contribute to the development of high-end mining equipment manufacturing and help elevate China’s position in the global value chain.
