Back to Three Gorges :NMS Provides Core Sand & Aggregate Equipment for Key National Project
2026.06.10

On the morning of June 8, the groundbreaking ceremony for China’s first major national landmark project under the 15th Five-Year Plan—the Three Gorges New Waterway Project—was held in Yichang, Hubei Province. Ding Xuexiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the ceremony and officially announced the start of construction. Over thirty years since the first major national projects on the Yangtze, NMS once again deployed its core equipment to support this strategic project, providing crucial concrete aggregate supply for construction.
The Three Gorges New Waterway Project integrates hydraulic, navigation, and ecological functions, making it the largest comprehensive project along the Yangtze River since the original Three Gorges Project. Upon completion, the project will establish four-line ship locks at both the Three Gorges and Gezhouba hubs, enhancing navigation capacity along the Yangtze Golden Waterway and supporting high-quality development of the Yangtze Economic Belt.
NMS has a long-standing relationship with the Three Gorges Project. In the 1990s, leveraging its advanced technology and product quality, NMS secured over 80% of the screening equipment market for the Three Gorges Dam, establishing a trusted reputation in China’s hydropower sector. Since then, NMS equipment has expanded nationwide, serving nearly 200 hydropower stations including Baihetan, Xiluodu, and Xiangjiaba, and later extending its services internationally alongside Chinese state-owned enterprises, achieving a trajectory from the Three Gorges to national and global markets.

For the Three Gorges New Waterway Project, NMS again serves as a key equipment supplier for the Xia’anxi and Wayaoping sand and aggregate processing systems. Unlike its historical focus on screening equipment, NMS now delivers complete system solutions. In the Wayaoping system, NMS provides a wider range of screening equipment, including circular vibrating screens and hydraulic high-frequency screens, and introduces core crushing and sand-making equipment such as JC jaw crushers, CC single-cylinder cone crushers, MC multi-cylinder cone crushers, and HGR high-pressure roller sand makers. Covering the full process of crushing, screening, and sand-making, these solutions efficiently convert granite ore into well-graded, high-quality concrete aggregate, ensuring a reliable supply for the New Waterway Project.

From its initial engagement at the Three Gorges to its renewed involvement today, NMS has maintained a commitment to innovation and continuously enriched its product portfolio, transforming from a single equipment supplier into a comprehensive solutions provider.
NMS’s full participation in sand and aggregate production for the Three Gorges New Waterway Project not only continues its historical legacy but also exemplifies the company’s commitment to supporting China’s modern infrastructure initiatives. NMS will continue to provide equipment operation support and on-site technical services, ensuring stable, efficient, and environmentally friendly operations while maintaining a reliable supply of high-quality concrete aggregates for the successful delivery of the Three Gorges New Waterway Project.
