Recently, Zijin School of Geology and Mining at Fuzhou University held its 2026 freshman welcome ceremony and the presentation ceremony for corporate teaching awards and scholarships. Li Shunshan, Chairman and President of NMS, was invited to attend and present the NMS Teaching Award and NMS Scholarship to the faculty members and students. Chen Jinghe, Chairman of the Board of Zijin School of Geology and Mining, founder and Lifetime Honorary Chairman of Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd., also attended the event and presented the awards alongside Li.

During the event, Chen Jinghe delivered the first ideological and professional education lecture for the 2026 freshmen, titled “Aspire High, Act with Determination, Build Strong Capabilities, and Lead in Value Creation.” He encouraged students to carry forward the spirit of the geological and mining industry, deepen their commitment to their chosen fields, and realize their potential by contributing to national strategies and industry development.

As a model of university-industry collaboration jointly established by Fuzhou University and Zijin Mining Group, Zijin School of Geology and Mining applies the “Zijin Model” throughout its talent development process. This model emphasizes corporate support for educational development, corporate participation in teaching, and corporate evaluation of educational outcomes. The school is committed to cultivating highly qualified professionals in geology and mining and has supplied a substantial number of key talents to China’s geological and mining sector.

NMS’s donation to Fuzhou University is one example of its long-standing commitment to supporting higher education in geology and mining. Over the years, NMS has established scholarships and teaching awards at universities including Central South University, Jilin University, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, China Three Gorges University, and University of Science and Technology Beijing. It has also jointly established practical training bases with universities, gradually building a comprehensive framework that encompasses student awards, faculty incentives, and collaborative education through industry-university-research partnerships.
The event further strengthened university-industry collaboration and highlighted NMS’s commitment to supporting education and giving back to the industry. Using teaching awards and scholarships as a bridge, the two sides will continue to expand their cooperation and promote deeper integration of industry, education, research, and practical application, helping cultivate more highly qualified professionals to support the high-quality development of the geological and mining sector.
