Zambia Iron Ore Project Fully Commissioned! NMS Sled Mobile Crushing & Screening Plants in Dual-Line Operation
2026.05.18
Recently, the Zambia iron ore project equipped entirely with NMS equipment was officially fully commissioned. The project includes both an iron ore crushing and screening system and a limestone crushing and screening system, both utilizing modular sled mobile crushing and screening plants. The successful operation demonstrates NMS’s comprehensive capability in delivering integrated and customized solutions for overseas mining projects.

Limestone Crushing and Screening System
To meet the customer’s production requirements, NMS tailored a dual-line solution integrating both iron ore and limestone crushing systems. The iron ore crushing line provides high-quality raw materials for steel smelting, while the limestone crushing line supplies metallurgical flux for the steel production process. The two production lines were planned, constructed, and commissioned simultaneously, helping the steel plant achieve integrated raw material preparation and improved production efficiency from the source.

The iron ore crushing and screening system adopts a two-stage closed-circuit process with a throughput capacity of 80 tph. The maximum feed size reaches 600 mm, while the final product size is controlled at 8 mm. NMS supplied a complete set of Sled mobile crushing and screening stations for the line, including the MK-JC Sled mobile jaw crushing station, MK-MC Sled mobile cone crushing station, and MK-SR Sled mobile screening station. Mobile conveyors and a centralized control system were also provided to enable coordinated operation across the entire production line.

The limestone crushing and screening system also adopts a two-stage closed-circuit process, with an annual processing capacity of 1.8 million tonnes. The maximum feed size is 500 mm, and the final product size is controlled at 60 mm. Core equipment for this line includes two MK-JC Sled mobile jaw crushing stations and one MK-SR Sled mobile screening station.

The Sled mobile crushing and screening plants supplied by NMS feature a modular design and can be customized according to specific project requirements. The equipment requires no concrete foundation, or only minimal foundation preparation, enabling rapid assembly and commissioning. The integrated units can operate independently or flexibly in combination for coordinated processing. In terms of operation and control, the equipment supports one-button start and stop functions for simplified operation, while also offering dual control modes from both the control room and on-site operation points to facilitate production management and maintenance. Optional configurations include hydraulic breakers, magnetic separators, metal detectors, extreme-cold climate packages, and water mist dust suppression systems, allowing the equipment to adapt to various complex working conditions while meeting environmental protection requirements.

For technical support, NMS dispatched electrical and mechanical engineers to the project site to provide installation supervision, commissioning, operator training, performance testing, and ongoing technical support. The training program combined classroom instruction with on-site practical guidance, covering equipment operation, maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting to ensure the owner’s team could independently, safely, and efficiently operate the system.

The successful commissioning of the Zambia iron ore project once again demonstrates NMS’s system integration capability and overseas project delivery strength in the crushing and screening sector. From equipment manufacturing and commissioning to operator training and after-sales support, NMS continues to provide global customers with efficient, reliable, and customized integrated solutions. Moving forward, NMS will continue to support more projects worldwide with high-quality equipment and professional services. (Liu Xiaohan)
