NMS Holds Eighth “929 Innovation Day,” Rewarding Innovation and Advancing AI Adoption
2026.10.09

On September 29, NMS held its eighth annual “929 Innovation Day.” Focusing on AI empowerment and company-wide innovation, the event featured a keynote presentation on emerging technologies, the presentation of awards for employee-led innovation, and the announcement of major research and development projects. These activities set the direction for NMS’s next stage of innovation and called on employees across the company to take an active role in driving progress.
The event opened with a video highlighting innovation achievements from previous years. In the “Voices of the Future” session, Wang Qiling, Technical Director for the Machinery and Equipment Industry at Siemens Digital Industries Software, delivered a keynote presentation titled “A Systematic Approach to AI: From Isolated Applications to a Transformation of R&D Paradigms.” Addressing four areas—individual AI applications, the foundations of systematic AI adoption, the transformation of R&D paradigms, and implementation pathways—he noted that AI can already support knowledge-based question answering, content generation, and more efficient design and simulation. However, data quality determines AI’s potential, making it essential to connect data flows across the organization and establish a solid intelligent foundation. He emphasized that AI is enabling “digital employees” and that intelligent agents will gradually become integrated throughout the R&D process. He recommended that companies treat AI and digitalization as strategic priorities, encourage all employees to learn and use AI proactively, and incorporate AI application capabilities into performance assessments and talent evaluations. He also stressed the importance of supplementing and maintaining historical data to build a strong foundation for large AI models and knowledge bases while reducing repetitive work.

As the centerpiece of the event, the Employee Innovation Awards ceremony brought the atmosphere to a peak. The awards covered two main areas: technological innovation and management innovation, with prize amounts ranging from RMB 10,000 to RMB 60,000. Awards were also presented to outstanding contributors to technological and management innovation, providing multiple forms of recognition to further encourage innovation throughout the company.

Two award-winning employees, representing the Intelligent O&M Research Institute and the Digitalization Center, then shared their innovation experiences based on their own work. They described how they identified problems, developed solutions, improved work processes, and turned ideas into practical results, resonating with the audience.
The event also focused on the next stage of innovation. The president of the NMS Innovation Club announced the 2027 List of Major Research and Development Projects and briefly introduced the background of the proposed projects. The list covers areas including AI applications, the reliability of key components, new energy equipment, digital management, digitalization of organizational and talent management, and innovation in management models. Its release provides a clear roadmap for the company’s next stage of technological advancement and management transformation.

In his closing remarks, Li Shunshan, Chairman and President of NMS, shared his views on the AI era, the essence of innovation, the importance of data, and the responsibilities of every employee. He pointed out that AI is not simply another technological upgrade, but a watershed moment. Those who fail to understand or use AI will ultimately risk being left behind, and NMS must foster a company-wide culture of learning and applying AI.He emphasized that innovation must focus on three fundamental priorities: efficiency, quality, and cost. Digital development and a strong data culture are essential to connecting data across the entire value chain, from R&D and manufacturing to application, so that data can drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
R&D projects, he added, must be developed from the customer’s perspective and address customers’ core concerns. NMS must comprehensively improve product performance, processing capacity, quality, operating costs, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
Innovation, he stressed, is not the responsibility of a select few, but of every NMS employee. The prize money for this year’s Employee Innovation Awards was higher than in previous years, and he expressed his hope that the 2027 awards would recognize even greater rewards and more achievements. He also encouraged more teams to step onto the stage and urged every NMS employee to remain relevant in a changing era and take pride in their own accomplishments.

The eighth “929 Innovation Day” was both a comprehensive review of the company’s innovation achievements and a call to action for the future. All NMS employees will continue to learn and apply AI, pursue innovation, and push beyond existing limits in their respective roles. By turning their enthusiasm for innovation into concrete action, they will work together to write a new chapter in NMS’s innovation and development.
